Software Sales Consultant (Retail Data & Location Planning FMCG) - Consulting


An established Technology led data consultancy, helps retail brands make informed decisions by understanding their customer behaviour. This saves them time and money in making critical commercial location based decisions. Having demonstrated their unrivalled expertise for over 40 years, their clients continue to use their services which build data models that provide consumer classification, showing purchasing potential by segmenting the UK population.

Role: Account Manager & Business Development Retail Sector.

This consultative and client facing will depend on your ability to help clients think about their strategy and provide practical suggestions. With support of an analyst, you will be contacting companies within the Retail Sector by helping them understand who their customers are and where they are located using market leading software, turning collected data into practical strategic solutions. Current clients include household brand names John Lewis, B&Q, Selco, Wilko, Next, C&A, River Island.

Success will be based on a proactive approach, ability to prospect, strong networking skills to develop your pipeline and a commercial mindset. The role offers an excellent opportunity to become an expert within the location planning space learning the challenger sales approach and to work for a well-respected international consulting group.

What to expect:

– Autonomy; No daily monitoring of performance, the focus is quarterly performance with emphasis on you taking responsibility. You will be supported by pre-sales consultants.

– Culture; A mature working environment, emphasis on understanding client requirements through research and detailed analysis.

– Progression; by investing in your ability to sell and understand both the product and market, they will be offering progression to help enhance your development.


-You will receive a four-week training plan covering their product, market and solution sales. This includes meetings with different Dept heads – going out to client meetings and learning where the value is shown, which products the clients use and where it adds value. This grounding then leads you to entering the market yourself, identifying which challenges exist and how the solution applies to any given client.

Basic salary up to £50k, OTE £70k year one.
